RadioEditAV was a Chicago-based creative group comprised of directors, cinematographers, live visual artists, designers, animators, VJs, DJs, and producers specializing in audio visual solutions in the music entertainment industry. Their work was featured on tour with major music artists and at festivals like Lollapalooza, Coachella and Bonnaroo. Looking to take their game to the next level and to present themselves to new clients, the REAV guys sought my help to create a fresh and innovative look for their web presence.
Scott from REAV and I got to work building a site unique to their company. The inspiration for the layout was a magazine spread. Through hours of late night coding sessions after our day jobs (and more than a few weekends), we built a fully responsive horizontal site, bending the rules of web browsers. The site detected the height of the user’s browser and resized everything accordingly. The site also detected when a user was browsing on a smartphone and served a stripped-down vertical site. WordPress provided the ability to serve dynamic content to our main templates, which we built using php, html5, js/jquery and css3. In the end, we found that we didn’t have to compromise the initial idea for the site very much, if at all. We made the site we intended to when we started. RadioEditAV got exactly what they wanted and filled the site with amazing photos and videos of their work.
